Install WorkoutGen Like a Real App
WorkoutGen is not only a website. It is a Progressive Web App, often shortened to PWA. In plain language, that means you can add WorkoutGen to your phone home screen and open it like an app, without downloading anything from the App Store or Google Play.
That matters when you train. You do not want to search through browser tabs between sets. You want one icon, one tap, your workout player, your exercise videos, your progression, and your plan ready before the session starts.
The short version:
- Open WorkoutGen in a supported browser.
- Use your browser menu or share button.
- Add WorkoutGen to your home screen.
- Launch it from the new WorkoutGen icon before every workout.
If you prefer seeing the gestures, watch the installation tutorial used inside the app.

What Is a Progressive Web App?
A Progressive Web App is a web app built with normal web technology, but designed to behave more like a native app when your device supports it. It can have its own icon, open in a standalone window, load quickly, and cache useful parts of the experience.
For you, the important part is simple: WorkoutGen stays easy to access at the exact moment you train.
You still keep the advantages of the web:
- no app store search;
- no large download;
- no waiting for a store update;
- one link that works on iPhone, Android, tablet, and desktop;
- secure access through HTTPS;
- updates delivered automatically when WorkoutGen improves.
Why Installing WorkoutGen Helps Your Training
Installing WorkoutGen is not a technical detail. It removes friction from your routine.
When WorkoutGen is on your home screen:
- You start faster: tap the icon instead of reopening a browser tab.
- The player feels cleaner: the app opens in a focused, app-like window.
- You stay in the session: fewer browser distractions between exercises.
- Your plan is easier to reopen: useful when the gym signal is weak.
- The habit is visible: the icon reminds you to train like any other daily app.
The biggest benefit is behavioral. A workout plan only works if you actually open it. A home screen icon makes WorkoutGen part of your normal phone routine.
Before You Install
Use the real WorkoutGen app URL:
Sign in or create your plan first if you have not done it yet. Then install from the browser you normally use for training.
Avoid installing from an in-app browser. If you opened WorkoutGen from Instagram, TikTok, Gmail, Facebook, or the Google app, tap the option to open the page in Safari or Chrome first. In-app browsers often hide the installation menu.
Install WorkoutGen on iPhone or iPad
On iPhone and iPad, there is usually no automatic install pop-up. You add the app manually from the share menu.
Recommended path: Safari
- Open Safari.
- Go to https://my.workoutgen.app.
- Tap the Share button.
- Scroll and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Keep Open as Web App enabled if your iOS version shows it.
- Tap Add.
- Open WorkoutGen from the new icon on your home screen.
If you do not see Add to Home Screen, scroll to the bottom of the share sheet, tap Edit Actions, then add Add to Home Screen back to the visible actions.
Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Orion on iOS
On recent iOS versions, third-party browsers can also add web apps from the share menu. The steps are very similar: open WorkoutGen, tap Share, then choose Add to Home Screen.
Safari is still the easiest recommendation because Apple controls the iPhone web app experience and users are more likely to find the right menu there.

Android usually makes PWA installation more visible than iPhone.
Chrome on Android
- Open Chrome.
- Go to https://my.workoutgen.app.
- If WorkoutGen shows an install button, tap it.
- If you do not see a button, tap the three-dot menu.
- Choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
- Confirm with Install or Add.
- Launch WorkoutGen from your home screen or app drawer.
Depending on your phone, Chrome may install WorkoutGen as a WebAPK. You do not need to understand that term. It simply means Android treats the installed web app more like a normal app: it can appear in the launcher and in system app settings.
Samsung Internet, Edge, Brave, Opera, and Firefox
These browsers can also install web apps on Android. The wording changes by browser:
- Samsung Internet: menu -> Add page to -> Home screen.
- Edge: menu -> Add to phone or Apps.
- Brave and Opera: menu -> Add to Home screen or Install.
- Firefox Android: menu -> Add to Home screen or Install when available.
If one browser only creates a basic shortcut, use Chrome or Samsung Internet for the cleanest app-like install.
Install WorkoutGen on Desktop
You can also install WorkoutGen on desktop when you prefer planning from a computer.
- Chrome and Brave: menu -> Cast, save and share -> Install page as app.
- Microsoft Edge: menu -> Apps -> Install this site as an app.
- Safari on macOS: File -> Add to Dock on supported macOS versions.
Desktop install is useful for reviewing your program, but the phone install is the priority because that is where most people follow the workout player.
Common Installation Problems
“I do not see the install button”
Use the browser menu instead. On iPhone, use Share -> Add to Home Screen. On Android, use the three-dot menu -> Install app or Add to Home screen.
“I opened WorkoutGen from Instagram or Gmail”
Open the page in Safari or Chrome first. In-app browsers are convenient for reading a link, but they are not the right place to install a PWA.
“I installed it twice on iPhone”
iOS can treat each home screen install as a separate app with separate storage. Keep the icon you use, remove the duplicate, and sign in again if needed.
“The gym has bad network”
Open WorkoutGen before you leave home or while you still have a strong signal. Let your plan and session load, then start training. The installed app helps reduce friction, but it should not be treated as magic if you never opened the workout before losing connection.
The Best Setup for Training
For most users, the best setup is:
- Install WorkoutGen on your phone.
- Open it once before going to the gym.
- Start the workout player from the home screen icon.
- Keep your phone unlocked during exercises where you need the timer or videos.
- Log your session and progression right after training.
This is exactly why WorkoutGen includes an installation tutorial in the app. Go to Settings -> Tutorials -> How to install the app if you want to watch the short walkthrough again.
Final Recommendation
Install WorkoutGen today if you plan to train more than once with it. It takes less than a minute, costs nothing, and makes the app easier to open when motivation is lowest.
The technology is called a Progressive Web App, but you do not need to remember that. Remember this instead:
Add WorkoutGen to your home screen. Tap it before training. Follow your plan. Track your progress.
