Is It Safe to Install WorkoutGen?

Installing WorkoutGen is completely safe and does not involve downloading risky files. It utilizes Progressive Web App technology, which is a standard feature built directly into trusted browsers like Google Chrome, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge. The same technology powers the web applications of major platforms such as Spotify, Uber, and Pinterest.

Here is what this technology means for your device:

  • No app store downloads: You do not need to manage accounts or accept extra permissions.
  • Secure by default: WorkoutGen loads exclusively over HTTPS, using the same encrypted connection as secure banking websites.
  • Automatic updates: Improvements and new features load automatically without requiring manual updates.
  • Easy removal: You can uninstall the app at any time by long-pressing the icon and selecting delete.
  • Cross-device compatibility: The same installation process works seamlessly across phones, tablets, and desktop computers.

Troubleshooting Common Installation Issues

If you cannot find the installation option, use these decision rules to resolve the issue:

  • Are you using an in-app browser? If you opened the link from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or Gmail, the built-in browser will hide installation menus. Tap the browser options icon and select Open in Browser to load the page in Safari (iOS) or Chrome (Android) before installing.
  • Is the Add to Home Screen option missing on iOS? Scroll to the bottom of the Safari share sheet, tap Edit Actions, and ensure the option is enabled.
  • Are you using an older iPhone? Ensure your device is updated to iOS 16.4 or later to support installation from third-party browsers like Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. Otherwise, use Safari.

Once installed, tap the WorkoutGen icon on your home screen to launch your plan. You can access this guide at any time within the app by navigating to Settings, selecting Tutorials, and tapping How to install the app.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the App Store or Google Play to install WorkoutGen?

No. WorkoutGen is a Progressive Web App, meaning you install it directly from your web browser. Open my.workoutgen.app, then use your browser's install button, menu, or the Add to Home Screen option. Nothing is downloaded from an app store.

Is it safe to install WorkoutGen as a web app?

Yes. A Progressive Web App uses the same secure technology built into Chrome, Safari, and Edge. There is nothing to download from a store, no extra permissions to accept, it loads exclusively over HTTPS, and it updates automatically. You are adding a secure shortcut, not installing unknown software, and you can delete it like any other app.

What is a Progressive Web App (PWA)?

A Progressive Web App, or PWA, is a website that you can install like an application. It runs in a secure, isolated part of your browser, opens in full screen from your home screen, and updates automatically. Major platforms like Spotify, Uber, and Pinterest offer installable web apps. WorkoutGen is a PWA, giving you an app-like experience without needing an app store.

Why do I not see an install button on my iPhone?

This is normal. iPhones do not display automatic installation prompts. You must tap the Share button, select Add to Home Screen, and then tap Add. If the option is hidden, tap Edit Actions at the bottom of the share sheet to enable it.
