Plate Calculator
Choose your barbell, target weight, and available plates. You’ll see which plates to load on each side.
Plates per side
- 2 × 20 kg
Total achievable weight: 100 kg
Understand the calculation
The target weight includes the barbell. The calculation finds an identical plate combination on each side using as few plates as possible. If the exact weight is impossible, it selects the closest lower weight.
Total weight = barbell weight + 2 × sum of the plates on one side.
Your questions
Does the calculation include the barbell weight?
Yes. For a total weight of 100 kg with a 20 kg barbell, you need 40 kg of plates on each side. You can choose a 20, 15, or 10 kg barbell.
What if I don’t have every plate size?
Uncheck the sizes you don’t have. The calculation assumes you have multiple pairs of each checked size. Check which pairs are available before loading your barbell.
Can I use a barbell measured in pounds?
Yes. Choose pounds: the available barbells weigh 45, 35, or 25 lb. The plates and total weight will use this unit, without mixing kilograms and pounds.
